BioNeutrality
Bio Neutrality is our strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in every stage of our biodiesel production, making us the first company in the sector to do so.

The Climate Action Policy

Self-compensation
Generating emission reduction projects by substituting fuels in industrial facilities.
Voluntary offsetting
Establishment of a self-conservation area based on achieved production goals.
External offsetting
Acquiring offsets from projects in our supply chain (external offsetting).

Decarbonization 
Strategy
We continuously strive to develop more efficient emissions processes to minimize them. To achieve this, we will implement various mitigation actions.
Farming:
- Increased carbon sequestration in crops (aboveground biomass and belowground biomass).
- Reducing nitrogen fertilizer application with organic amendments and microbiological assistance.
- Reduction of fossil fuel consumption in mechanized processes.
Extractors:
- Methane capture in POME treatment for internal or external energy use at most of our supply partners.
- Increased efficiency of boiler cogeneration processes for thermal and electrical energy generation.
- Generation of composting and fertigation processes for crop reuse.
Transportation and distribution:
- Efficient logistics processes for incoming raw materials to processes and outgoing products, to reduce excess fuel consumption.
Plant BioD:
- The plant’s thermal energy efficiency was increased by reducing steam losses and lowering gas consumption.
- Evaluate substituting main inputs with bio-inputs to reduce indirect emissions from product production, such as biomethanol.
- Efficient management of electrical energy by evaluating alternative renewable energy sources for different stages of the process.

Our 
commitments and actions
Zero Deforestation Commitment
Colombia is home to a vital part of the world’s lungs, which requires a commitment to climate objectives and the global fight against deforestation. Therefore, we have committed to ZERO DEFORESTATION in our agricultural chain, ensuring that the oil supply we use in production is free of deforestation.
Since 2017, BioD and its suppliers have been part of the ZERO DEFORESTATION agreement led by the Tropical Forest Alliance (TFA), the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), and the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development. The agreement aims to identify and manage the impact of agricultural areas at risk of deforestation, as well as to accelerate conservation and restoration processes in degraded areas.
Wildlife Actions
Preserving biodiversity is crucial for global ecological development. We work with our partners and suppliers to define strategies, activities, and protocols that ensure the conservation of RAP (rare, threatened, or endangered) species, as well as other ecologically important fauna groups present in the areas near our processes.
Our Biodiversity Conservation program involves identifying and monitoring species, preserving biological corridors, and signaling and rescuing fauna. This allows us to preserve the natural environment, of which we are a part, in the best possible way without hindering its development.
Environmental Actions
Our goal is to increase the efficiency of our natural resource consumption. To achieve this, we have implemented actions in each of our plant processes:
- We are expanding our commitment to environmental sustainability by acquiring forest conservation areas, promoting natural regeneration through plantings, and contributing to the preservation of our ecosystem.
- We are also using alternative energies to reduce emissions.
- The process recirculates over 90% of the wastewater, resulting in minimal discharges to the environment.
- Additionally, residual products are maximized to create sales opportunities for other companies.
